"ABOUT"
Mordechai  Edel
" ImpressionMystic" artist

Picture
“ THE PAINTED DREAM ”
BY MAURICE LUKOW O.B.M.
Mordechai's parents were refugees from pre-war Austria to Birmingham ,England  where his mother managed the La Boheme Gallery Cafe.
The Gallery owner ,the late Andre Drucker was an artist who trained and inspired Mordechai with his reproductions of great Impressionist and Surrealist paintings by Renoir , Monet and Chagall .

Although viewers often remark of a similarity to Chagall's style, Mordechai says that his only association with Chagall is that he was born on the 28th March ,the same date that Chagall died !

In addition to the art of oil painting Mordechai also studied opera and cantorial art .
In 1973 Mordechai sang for the Israel National Opera where he met his violinist wife Annie .
The Edels presently reside in Vancouver ,Canada where he credits Annie and their three children for inspiring his artistic success .This is reflected in Mordechai's original oil paintings , sepia sketches  and magnificent hand painted wedding ketubahs .

The perfect canopy of marriage is a recurrent " ImpressionMystic" vision in much of his work , aspiring to unite the opposites of  Heaven and Earth, Fire and Water ,Light and Dark , Secular and Sacred .

With paint brush and vocal chords Mordechai's visions invite friends and collectors to enter his dream and paint a world of joy together .

Maybe Mordechai's painted dream of Universal harmony is somewhat elusive but surely it is a dream worth painting !
